In The Spotlight
Our Bowling Meet was held on January 31st at West Hunterdon Lanes. 56 Bowlers competed for medals and placement at the state tournament. Lois Arace and her staff did an outstanding job. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place qualified for the state sectional to be held March 7th at Strathmore lanes in Matawan. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners from there qualify for the Spring Sports Festival to be held March 28th, and 29th at La Martinique Lanes and Curtis Lanes. If anyone would be able to help with transportation of athlete or athletes to either the sectional or festival please call Lois Arace at (908)735-8532.
Basketball Boy have we grown. We now have 3 teams competing. Jaguars 1 is coached by Bill Steiner, Jaguars 2 coached by Mike Bruno and Jim Phinney, and Jaguars 3 coached by Bob Smith and Matt Steiner. We have some exciting games held on Sundays in Lawrenceville. Why not plan to cheer on our teams by coming to a game. 1st and 2nd place in each division get a chance to spend the weekend in Wildwood at the Spring Sports Festival to be held March 28-29th.
The Swim Meet will be held March 15th starting at 9 am at Deer Path YMCA. There are at least 5 programs signed up to participate. Our swimmers will be sporting their new swimsuits purchased from the proceeds of the Golf Tournament. The Dolphins will also be participating at the summer games and all gold medallists might have a chance to be on the 2010 national team NJ.
Bocce will begin on April 8th at 6:30 till 8:00 Prompt at Point Breeze. Coach Bruno will be training athletes to participate in the summer games. Gold medallists will be eligible for the 2010 national games.
Softball Practice will begin the first week in April. Bill Steiner the head coach is expecting at least 2 teams this year “Heat 1 and Heat 2.” Bill could use extra help with the coaching of the teams if anybody is interested. The first game will be held April 18th at Mercer County Park.
Track And Field Practice is beginning the week of March 9th. The Enact and Enable club under Mary Beth Berry will again be volunteering as one on one coaches to the athletes. If you would like to be a part of the track and field please call Mrs. Berry at 908-963-9577.
